TECHNICAL DETAILS - REGULATIONS

IJMBUILDING REGULATIONS 2007
All buildings built must comply with the national building regulations which only set the Minimum standard for buildings. The most current regulations come into force on the 30 June 2008. These regulations must be read in conjunction with development plans that may in fact have a higher standard of thermal insulation that that set in the building regulations.

Additionally political announcements point towards significant improvement in building regulation requirements over the next 6 - 8 years and as such many new dwellings are being built to higher standards than those set out below.

  • Applicable from 30 June 2008

  • U Value Walls 0.27 W/m2K

  • Renewables 10kWhr/m2/annum

  • Air Permeability 10m3/(hr.m2) - Test Required

  • Boiler Efficiency 86%

  • Heat Recovery Efficiency 66%

  • High Efficiency Lighting

It is proposed that the next regulation change will be in 2010 and these will be used in conjunction with  Sustainable Homes technology.
